Honeycomb board Cutting

Evaluate core structure, edge quality and joinery before choosing a cutting workflow for honeycomb displays and lightweight structures.

Understand the material

Honeycomb board uses a cellular core between face layers. Similar-looking boards can differ in core density, face material and adhesive construction.

What makes this job demanding

Thick cellular stock can compress under hold-down or tear at a corner. V-grooves and angled joints add a second requirement: the remaining face must bend without cracking or separating.

Process and tooling review

Develop a sample containing a long edge, tight corner and intended joint. Compare the cut face and panel stiffness after processing. Confirm tool reach and clearance with the proposed machine configuration.

Typical applications

  • Retail display structures
  • Lightweight panel components
  • Packaging and protective structures

Frequently asked questions

Is a honeycomb cutting workflow the same as corrugated board?

No. Core structure and thickness change how the blade engages and how the panel is supported. Use honeycomb-specific samples to evaluate edges and joints.

What should I send for an application review?

Provide the exact stock designation, material construction, dimensions and representative drawing. State the edge finish and part acceptance criteria so the proposed configuration can be reviewed.
